xvii. christmas timing?!

So, the reason I titled this blog Christmas timing instead of Christmas time is simple. My timing has been so off in like every aspect of my life. I'm kind of lost you could say with everything and don't really know how to get out of it. I feel like I'm a slinky that was tossed down the stairs only to discover I've been knotted in so many places that I just can't get myself untied.

Let's start this off with the most simple aspect, sleep. Ever since exam time, my sleep patterns have been so off. Yes, I know everyones sleep has been off but I just missed a train/bus back home this morning, because I slept through my alarm fml.

Then there's boys. I don't even want to discuss it. I kind of can't in a sense that I have no clue what I'm going to do.

and lastly money problems, I kind of put like $200 minimum on my visa and yea not looking forward to coming up with a way to pay it off.

I really hope Christmas gets sorted out as soon as I get home :(

xvi. those girls sure can rock.

It's been over a month since I updated this thingy, and let me tell you it's because I haven't had the time to. Which makes me so sad because I love coming on here and venting my life to the select few who actually read this, lol.

Anyways, since last time, I've mainly been focusing on school. It's been super busy and stressful, I haven't seen my out of class friends in forever and the only reason I see my in class friends is because we have class together, and you know the edit suite has become everyone's home away from home. But hey, it's crunch time! This should be expected you know?

But, I'm not going to let this become a post about stress and excuses. I'll give you a little bit of information that is worth something, and references the title!

1. I bought the new Tegan and Sara record "Sainthood" it's pretty amazing, I suggest you check it out in some way shape or form (buy, download, burn, stream etc)

2. I got to accomplish something I never in a million years thought I would. Last Sunday, I interviewed LIGHTS. So if you don't know who she is that's sad not because she's famous but because she's really quite incredible and if you haven't had the privilege to listen to her music you're missing out. (stills from the interview are posted right)

3. Now, would this be a post by me without some reference to Paramore? Probably not, well their newest video "Brick by Boring Brick" was just released! Checker' out at www.paramore.net

Yep, so I've officially updated you on my favourite female artists, I think they kind of took the cake on this one.

peace.

xv. she's ripping wings off of butterflies.

It's a little late (I know) but, I saw Paramore last Thursday! Although most of the people who read this already know and have heard me talk about it, I'm going to tell you all again anyways. So Matt was visiting all week last week which was fun so he came along as well (correction: not to Paramore just to Toronto).

We went with Nicole first to see Lights at MTV (Okay two important things need to be noted here, 1. I used to intern at MTV, 2. I haven't been there since then until now) So we were super late like we got there at 6:20 but we managed to squeeze in a bit of her performance (most of which was watched at security). So besides the performance the only thing MTV really did for me was make me miss all the other interns (well most of them...) So I was a little sad cause it was kind of like flashback to April, but I got over it.

Next we went to Subway down the street (Okay there is an importance to this part) While we were there I got this like massive headache like my eye started hurting, I don't know why, it sucked a lot though. However I still went to Paramore.

Matt and I parted ways with Nicole and made our way to Kool Haus (or in his case Loblaws to talk to moms). I guess I look like a Paramore fan because two groups of people knew where we were going and one just assumed and started following us I'm going to call them the Bowmanville kids cause that's where they were from.

Once we found Kool Haus my headache was worse, it was freezing, I had to go to the washroom and Matt wanted apples, so we went into Loblaws. We ended up sitting there for like an hour and after like 20 texts from Brandon D claiming I was going to miss it, I went to Kool Haus.

I didn't miss it. Although the amount of guys there in groups of guys with no girls was ridiculous and it pissed me off! They were all super tall and the entire time I could barely see anything, even Brandon couldn't and he's quite a bit taller than me.

Okay no more complaining here is the awesome part. Paramore took the stage and although I couldn't see anything basically I was in heaven. They played most of their new cd and the rest was hits (I was shocked that they didn't play "Pressure", their first hit ever). Highlights more specific than the whole thing was when they played songs off their first album "All we know is Falling" being Conspiracy, Emergency and Here we go Again. Basically if I haven't stated before "All we know is Falling" is not only my favourite Paramore cd but one of my favourite cds in general. I really wish they would play "My Heart" or "Franklin" but I know it's not going to happen (this is the third time I've seen them live and they've only played My Heart once in 2008 by audience request online) But yeah... that was the Paramore concert, one last thing, my headache went away during the concert, I don't want to say Paramore has powers but you know... :)

xiv. we knew this was coming.

THE NEW PARAMORE CD CAME OUT LAST TUESDAY.

and of course, yours truly has it.

Being the Paramore fan that I am I'm not going to say that "Brand New Eyes" is my favourite album. It's not. "All we know is Falling" is still my favourite Paramore cd.

Anyways, other news:

I also bought Lights' album "The Listening" I enjoy it quite a bit. It's been on repeat along with "Brand New Eyes", although I already owned half the songs on it.

I bought Brand New's new album last week as well, and I feel horrible about saying this but I have honestly not had the time to listen to it yet... I'll do that today while I do my mountains of homework that is due this week.

I will be headed back to North Bay in 5 days. SUPER STOKED. I haven't been home home since the end of August.

As pre noted, my homework load is intensely huge.

Tegan and Sara tickets are on sale for Toronto in January. Yes I really really want to go, but, I really really don't want to put the tickets on my VISA hmm...

New boys I'm keeping on the down low, sorry bloggers. I am still single though :)

I also bought the third season of How I Met Your Mother this week. Let me explain. I've been watching the show religiously on television for three years now. I was actually watching the show when it was on tv for its 2nd, 3rd, 4th and now 5th seasons, but the thing is although I love owning box sets I refuse to buy them until they go down in price (I still don't own LOST season 4...still) ridiculous right? Yeah it really is, but I waited and waited and FINALLY HMV put the third season on sale, I bought it right away.

The countdown is on, Paramore live in twelve days, eeeek.

xii. polaroids.

Even more reasons for me to love MTV. Basically, last year I saw a segment on the Aftershow about making your own polaroids. Of course I thought it was fantastic, but I never really felt the need to do it. Flash forward to this morning, hungover to the point you cannot even imagine I started surfing the web. And to my surprise, found the "make your own polaroids" site. I decided I might as well try it out (see to the right) I kind of love it. My dad used to have a camera that took polaroids when I was younger and I thought it was the coolest thing ever, how you were able to shake the photo to make it appear. It was almost like magic! Well you can do that with this site too, although it is on your computer so not as cool but it's getting there.

xi. migraine madness

I've been getting the worst migraines the last few days and I have no idea why, I'm a little concerned to be honest...
But the first week of school is finished and all I have to say is that it's going to be a crazy busy year! I'm thinking last year times 50 at the minimum. Anyways off that topic, my life has been pretty decent. As my life normally is in Oakville I spend about 99% of my off time with Hayley and Becky which is awesome, I've met a handful of new people in the past few weeks, also awesome... I'm really not in the best blog writing state apparently. My thoughts seem to be going all over the place and not focused on one topic... I'm going to blame it on the headache.

it's kind of amazing.

x. chow, summer.

School starts tomorrow, and oh god Im so happy it does. I guess you could say this is my summer overview. Just a look back at how awesome/hectic and crazy it really was, maybe I'll just write it all out it in point form I don't have all day you know ;) (Im going to Hayley's asap and my friend from Manitoba is up) Okay so on a downer let's start where school left off.

APRIL:
Literally last day of res was as follows: Exam, Jumping Jamboree, Drunkenness. Oh yeah I should probably mention it was also the week of all my exams, the first week of my internship at MTV Canada and that my boyfriend had broken up with me the week prior. excellent. It followed by moving in with my dad, who until that point I had never lived with ever in my entire life. Moving on...

MAY:
Okay so even though now it feels like forever and ever ago, May was only 4 months ago. craziness, I'm going to be honest with you May was the best month of my entire summer... Although 99% of the time I was whining about Mike (ex) I really shouldn't have. Basically I probably missed out on what could have been a much better experience then it was if I wasn't whining and complaining about something I could not change. Looking back, now I realize that from now on I should probably not under estimate people and situations cause really, anything that could have been and is not is really my own fault.

JUNE:
Oh June, even though May was really when I met the people I consider still to be "friends" at MTV, June I would say is when I hit my peak there (peak being like small hill not mountain lol) People finally knew my name, I was being asked to go on shoots more, I finally got switched to News, I got to be a studio runner, yeah, so over the top amazing. The end of June also marked the ending to many different things all of which revolved around MTV, the internship was over, living with my dad came to a close, I had to say bye to some people I miss dearly and I moved back to the bay. huzzah.

JULY:
To be honest with you it was the month of North Bay, I wouldn't say it was boring cause it wasn't but it was North Bay. I got to see Jerbear and my dearest Brandon D which is always radical, lol and Michelle and Trista were dope too, yeah Matt so not cool that you moved to Ottawa. That was mostly July sorry it was dull, it gets better though.

AUGUST:
I LOVED AUGUST, For starters I turned 20 on the 1st, almost went home with a sketch random (thanks best friends for not letting me) then less then a week later, we went to Wonderland (we being Brandon D, Trista and Lori) and after that back to Oaks, and okay so this summer I have been all around Ontario but the relief of being back in Oakville and realizing that my life is not what the summer entailed is the best feeling in the world. It's not that I want to forget it, it's just a relief I can't explain it. Then we went and saw Blink 182 (no big deal, but really it was) yeah best show ever, hands down. Then after 2 more weeks of North Bay, I moved back to Oakville!!! and yeah that's where I'm at now. :)

...Boys of Summer?
To end it off, keeping it PG, I'll just leave it at I kissed 3 (different) boys this summer, NBD...I'm such a loser 8)

ix. cheesy post.

I'm kind of in a down mood. I really hope writing this helps. Basically I don't even know how to explain what I'm feeling. I guess if I had to put words to it I would say regret, or stupidity. I guess basically no matter how I acted things are probably for the best now anyways. It just seems that sometimes I just get incredibly down and miss (insert boys name here). I don't even understand why, it makes no sense to me, oh yeah and trust me making out with someone else doesn't help especially when you find out that person is a fucking douche bag, who doesn't care about you at all, and goes to a club the next day and hooks up with other people, brilliant, thanks bud.

Just a heads up, if anyone ever reads this. I know it's such a cliche but if you have something great don't let him go.

And you know who you are if you read this I'm sorry. I miss you, I care and I always will, I just can't keep on feeling this way, basically if I know there is no hope what's the point in holding on to it.

... and this is why people call me emo. hahaha

viii. a few of my favourite things.

This is a blog I'll edit frequently as I recall what they are. Just a little something I thought I'd post so you can get to know me better if you want.

i. paramore - anyone who knows me like has even met me knows that paramore is and has been my favourite band for quite sometime. I don't really know what it is about them, I just love em' I'll be seeing them on october 15th for the third time, what up!

ii. oj - the juice not the person. I've always loved o.j but last year specifically I would drink it everyday. I used to buy the mini juice boxes which would cost $2 more then a huge jug that had way more juice.

iii. diet coke - my ultimate drink of choice. it will one day be my demise.

iv. owls - I have an owl on my wallet. I've had this wallet for as long as I can remember, I also have a necklace/t-shirt with an owl on it. I'm also kind of obsessed with owl city.

v. mitchell davis - youtube him, he's amazing, I just love him.

vi. pumpernickel - if I have to choose a favourite kind of bread pumpernickel takes the cake, followed by 12 grain.

vii. headbands - I bought another one today. that brings the total including my two ropes up too 11. I think it's become more of a collection if anything.

viii. LOST - best tv show ever. followed by HIMYM and Gossip Girl. I have the seasons of all three of these shows. kind of loving them, hate it when people over talk about them (kind of a pet peeve)

ix. (500) days of summer - by far the best movie of the year so far. I highly recommend it to anyone and everyone, so good, it helps you get over relationships like you would not believe. I guess I'm saying it gives you hope.

x. cheese cappelletti/chicken fingers - it's kind of a done deal that if you're at a restaurant with me I will pick one of these two items. if not it is going to be a BLT hold the T.

xi. fran's - okay, so for those who don't know fran's is this diner like restaurant just off Yonge Street, in toronto. It's tradition for me to go or try to go there everytime I'm in toronto, Maia showed it to me like 4 years ago and Ive kind of become addicted to the place. feel special if I go with you to fran's.

xii. plaid - I love a man in plaid. I also love myself in plaid. I just love plaid. I'm overjoyed it's in style. a few years back Jerry was the only one who wore it.

xiii. james franco - in my opinion one of the sexiest men alive.

xiv. polaroids - I know it's tacky and "hipster" but I love polaroid pictures. my dad used to have an old camera that took polaroids. I'm probably one of the worst photographers but I would love a camera that took them.

xv. cosmo - the magazine, and I guess the drink but the magazine is something ive gotten every month since I was 17. I really need a subscription.

I'll update this more later.
enjoy :)

vii. orange, strawberry, banana.

Due to lack of internet, I haven't been able to update this as much as I would like. I'll be like hey, this is interesting I should blog about that oh wait no internet. But, now I'm in Oshawa for a few days visiting my dad.

Basically my step mom signed up my entire family back in February for a 15km walk for "Sick Kids Hospital" in Toronto. I'm actually pretty stoked. I have my ipod ready, some handy snacks, water bottle fanny-pack (oh yeah, I look like such a nerd when I go on long walks) but I really enjoy it AND it's for a good cause :)

While preparing, besides training, I figured I needed a good playlist cause on average if I jog a little this thing is going to take me a couple hours, and Im also the type of person where if I don't make a playlist I'll listen to the same song over and over and over (yeah, I'm one of those, I hate them to) to the point where i'll begin to hate the song, which sucks cause normally it's a good song (questionable based on the individuals music taste). Anyways, while making this playlist I came across music I used to listen to on repeat when I was younger. The one band that still fits perfectly (like an old glove) is oddly enough NFG, (New Found Glory). If for some odd reason you don't know who they are you should look them up, basically they're pop punk, but I personally find them to be extremely unique, (they don't sound like everyone else) I know I'm probably preaching to the choir and am like 7 years to late, but in my defense they put out a new c.d. this year! Oh and if you are going to check them out buy the dvd "The Story So Far..." it's most definitely and i say this confidently the best band dvd I have ever bought. It basically explains any form of inside joke Maia (my best friend from high school) and I had from grades 9-12. Yeah we liked/watched it that much.

"orange, strawberry, banana... banana's good for you."

vi. oakville.

So I've moved back, does that mean summer is over, no, not at all! If anything it's just about to get that more amazing, I love it here, although I will for sure miss home and all that.

Story time!!
Before moving down we had to go visit my grandparents for their 60th anniversary. Although it was memorable and I got to see some of my relatives (aunts, uncles, cousins etc.) that I have not seen in a very long time there was something that bothered me. There was no service... And okay I don't want to sound whiney but I know everyone will agree with this, doesn't it always seem that when you're out in the bush with no signal for miles (including the roof, my 18 year old cousin who seemed desperate to talk to his girlfriend climbed up there to check, nope no service) that everyone seems to all of a sudden want to talk to you!?!? Like okay the reason why this annoys me is cause when I'm sitting at home, bored, with nothing to do, it seems like everyone is busy, but when they decide to talk to you you're at a family thing. Well to be fair I know we should have been bonding with our distant relatives but in our defense my brother, my 5 cousins and myself had no clue who 3/4 of the people there were... just saying.

So then after the reunion my step father decided it would be best and save time if we stayed at his parents cottage which was just 10 more minutes out into the middle of no where, so yet again no signal, oh yeah and no toilet that's always fun (Thom and Jerry are going to read this and just shake there heads at me, lol) But I survived and then we were oakville bound.

Oh one last thing, so I decided to bring my entire cd collection to oakville with me, its bad ass, and alphabetical, score.

So I bought the new Owl City Cd today, and I have to say it's beyond what I expected, I already owned most of the songs, and it still surprised me. Think Postal Service-esc.

Oh also, I turned 20 on August 1st. It's been sweet thus far, and in 5 hours I'm headed to my beloved Oakville <3.

Sorry this post is kinda lame, I also won't have internet for a few days.

iii. passports.

Today I finally filled out all the appropriate forms to get my passport. I have to state that it is not as easy as it looks. Not only do you have to fill out the forms they give you but you have to find three people who can prove that they have known you for more than 2 years, (and one of them has to have had a legal canadian passport for at least five years), get your picture taken (I might add that you are not allowed to wear white or makeup *shudder*) and you have to get photocopies of identification (drivers license, health card, social insurance etc).

It was actually quite funny getting my picture taken, because like usual I went with Jerry and he tried to make me smile/laugh the entire time. When the picture was finished and I actually got to look at it I have to say, I looked like one of those bitches that everyone hates in high school, the ones who think they are better than everyone else I don't know if it's cause I wasn't smiling or because my hair is blonde and streaky whatever it was it was hilarious, and even though I hate to say it, I really like the picture (I don't look fat at all ps.)

So after the photo was done, we walked around the mall (sounds boring right) but no I have to share this with everyone. Every time and I'm talking like constant that Jerry and I go anywhere people think we are a couple. Today not once but twice people out right thought we were. There was this woman who approached us and was all "You should buy one of our necklaces for your girlfriend!" (awkward moment/both turn bright red) and then there was the guy in The Source. As I normally do, I bring up my ex who I am clearly not over completely (well I am but I'm not it's complicated, it's like I'm over him when I'm with certain people, but like when I'm not with those people which is practically ALWAYS I'm all I miss him... I think it's just a generic statement that I miss the way he treated me, or you know the attention you get when you have a boyfriend) but anyways, I'm talking to the guy at The Source about discounts and stuff, and I wouldn't say I was flirting cause he wasn't my type at all but I was all twirling my hair being all stupid and girly and he kept looking over at Jerry and giving me this "Isn't that your boyfriend?" look. UGH. Don't get me wrong, I love Jerry to death he is my best friend like if I had to pick one person to be my best friend it would be him, but like just because the people I date do not live in North Bay does not mean I am dating Jerry. We are just friends, that's all we ever will be. (well unless were like 35 and alone, we've discussed this were getting hitched!)

I'm done ranting for today, but I'm submitting my passport info to the MP's office tomorrow that should be entertaining.

ii. reality tv.

Alright, so, here is my first official go at it (non intro. wise) and I thought what would be the best topic to start this off with... Why not reality tv. It's something that I watch/talk about daily and even though it's sort of a guilty pleasure I watch a hell of a lot of it!

Recently, I've been watching a lot of MTV reality shows (The Real World, The City, Runs House, 16 and Pregnant... to name a few). I find these shows to be not only entertaining but like time filler. Like, the other day Brandon D was like pick me up around 10ish and it was 830, well what am I going to do till then? Uh, I watched Canada's Next Top Model. So I definitely need to thank reality television for contributing to my sometimes pathetic but all around ordinary life.

Of course the topic of is it reality or not is definitely questionable. But even if it is somewhat scripted I really could care less. Shows like The Hills and The City are more so a bonding experience for me and my girls (sometimes boys). Even though it is over dramatized every girl can pin point lets say the Justin Bobby in their lives (you know the boy who wants you but doesn't want the commitment?) and everybody has that "frienemy" like Heidi who they Love to Hate. The characters, although sometimes extreme versions make up the dynamics of most groups/relationships of ordinary people except with a lot more money/free time.

Speaking of money and free time, another form of reality television I'm really into, but often think "Lisa, why do you care?" is famous family shows. You know like Gene Simmons Family Jewels, Runs House, Meet the Barkers, Hogan Knows Best... ) I don't know if it's cause it's like "Hey! my family seems normal compared to them?" Or if it's like "OMG I wish I could live like that!" Either way I'm a huge fan and like watch them on a regular basis. My favourite famous person reality show you ask? The Ashlee Simpson Show! I used to love that show, mind you I am also one of the few out there who isn't afraid to say I'm a fan of Ashlee Simpson.

And who can forget competition/money based reality programming! (American Idol, So You Think You Can Dance?, Survivor, The Amazing Race, America's Next Top Model (and all their Canadian counter parts) Amazing. It showcases true human behaviour (although like I said before sometimes over played) You cannot say that you are completely innocent. People lie, cheat and backstab all the time, shows like Survivor just film it for the world to see!

So even though I didn't cover everything I hope this is somewhat of an insight of why I watch Reality Television, and although sometimes it is just plain evil what they do to the people on all of the shows mentioned, admit it, you can't seem to turn away.

i. well for starters,

Basically, I have been told that I have an interesting perspective on the things in life by multiple people. I swear I'm not making this up, I think I'm the most boring person on the planet but apparently some people don't so let's see if people will actually read this (however if they don't that's cool as well because I'll just use this to vent).

Okay, So I guess I'll start off on why I decided to make this. I'm going into my second year of Journalism Broadcast at Sheridan College (which is in Oakville, Ontario. Canada) so I really like to write to begin with. It not only helps clear my mind but it's just what I like to do (I once wrote a 6 page essay on bottle caps) so clearly I can write about almost anything!

But why blog?

Tonight my friend Lori told me I should do this, after I made up a scenario of what would happen if for an entire day I spoke in a deeper voice (which if you have met me you know I suck at any form of accent/interpretation). She has not been the first person to tell me this, besides the obvious being my mother, I have been told not only by my high school Writers Craft teacher, but also my Storytelling for Journalism teacher in first year (she told me that I tell stories with a completely different outlook then most people and it would be really interesting) of course at the time I thought she was just making fun of me and who knows maybe she was.

Another question that crossed my mind was why this form of blogging?

My friend Randy just asked me "Isn't that what Facebook and Twitter is for?" the answer: I suppose so but I'm not forcing people to read this (by it appearing on their news feeds) they have the option if they want to hear me ramble about pointless things.

And how did I find this site you may ask?

Well to be honest with you this wasn't my original site choice, I was going to go to this other site (I can't remember the name off the top of my head) that my best friend Jerry uses, but the site was to complicated for me so I passed, typed "blog" into google and VOILA! here we are! So thank you for taking interest in this and trust me it will hopefully get more interesting when I start actually writing about people/places/things/ideas (side note: I think that is the definition of a noun)
